Knowing Your Audience

It’s hard to create content if you don’t know who to target. Before making any piece of marketing material, such as video, brochures, or even your website, you need to know your audience. By following these steps, you’ll set your marketing plan up for success!

1. Do your research

Dive into your market research. Find demographics that you feel work with your brand and study them to make sure they are the right fit. Go a step further and check out who your competitors are marketing to, then compare that to your marketing strategy.

2. Make personas

This means creating your ideal customer all in one profile. Creating personas can establish a voice for your audience and will better help you understand them as real people rather than data and numbers. Make sure to get specific while making personas: include their family type, income, job, education level, personality traits, and more.

3. Talk to your audience

One you’ve established your target demographic, don’t be afraid to talk to them! Engage on social media, speak with current customers and conduct surveys. Pay attention to the niche interests and personalities of your market - this is a great way to get to know your audience and speak to them directly.

4. Monitor your audience on social media

Whatever you choose to do to know your audience, make sure you have a way to track how they are responding to your marketing strategies. This way, you’ll know if you’re headed in the right direction and getting your message to the right people!
